God Always, God Only, God Everything

Simphiwe Shorty Dludlu grew up in Alexandria playing soccer. Soccer was all encompassing and devoured her life. Going from strength to strength Shorty was later picked for the National woman’s team, Banyana Banyana. Shorty went on to become the Captain of the side as well as winning awards such as the Tuks Sports Woman Of The Year. She was living the life of success and achievement. Shortly after, whilst on this successful high, she was left out of the team and her whole life changed, causing confusion and a feeling of life devoid of any meaning. Realizing that there is more to her life than soccer and that God created her for His purposes and glory, she pursued a relationship with God. When facing challenges she doesn’t become despondent any longer but looks at it with Divine excitement.

As a soccer player Wayne Sandilands grew up being the best. As a goal keeper Wayne achieved top honours throughout his childhood and teenage years. His parents where very supportive and he had all the extra training and skills development possible. As Wayne entered a professional career in soccer he soon suffered disappointment. Not being picked and not being the best in his team was strange and unknown to him. Along with the struggles of disappointment and fear Wayne also realized that he lacked the joy that some of his Christians friends had. God showed him that his motives were wrong, that he was playing for his own glory instead of giving the glory to God. Now Wayne lives to glorify God in everything he does, on and off the field. Whether he plays or not, Wayne’s life is God’s to use as He sees fit. Now God is his audience of one.

To Forgive Is To Live

Themba Maluleke, together with his little brother and sister, grew up in a shelter after their mother passed away. Life started exerting its pressures on this fragile and incomplete little family. Themba went to an Afrikaans school in the 90’s and because of his colour, was mistreated and mocked by his fellow pupils and teachers and as a result started harbouring hate towards the white Afrikaner. Ironically, the Lord used a white Afrikaner man to reach out to Themba and consequently God softened Themba’s heart and replaced his severe hate with the utter forgiveness God bestowed upon us when He died on the cross for our sins, because we were first and unconditionally forgiven by Jesus Christ.
